Wedding Cinematography Basics
What does a wedding videographer do?
A professional wedding videographer captures your day with a series of video clips that document moments of your event. Cinematography takes the video experience to a new level. Through cinematic storytelling—documenting real moments, fine details, distinct emotions, and choice words—we create a wedding film you can relive fora lifetime. Unlike standard videography, a wedding cinematographer has vision and a skillset which carefully plans shots, records high-quality sound, and edits your film with intention to tell a story.
Is wedding videography worth it?
100% YES! Photos freeze moments, but video preserves movement like no other medium: voices, vows, and emotions shine through movies and show the truest representation of each moment. Many of my couples say their wedding film becomes their most cherished keepsake, especially as memories fade over time. The number one comment I get from brides who only did photo for their wedding, is that they wished they had done video, also. Don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Booking & Pricing
How much does a wedding videographer cost?
While wedding videography prices vary based on coverage hours, cinematography is a different level of film production. The communication leading up to your wedding day, the wedding day experience, and post day production of your unique films weigh heavily in our pricing. New Jersey wedding cinematographers typically invest dozens of hours into working with couples to bring their vision to life. Filming and editing each wedding varies based on each couples needs. Our goal is to deliver a personalized, cinematic, story-driven film that is a true representation of your love story.
When should we book our wedding videographer?
Most couples book their wedding videographer 6–12 months in advance. My availability changes rather quickly, especially around popular dates like holidays. As your wedding cinematographer, I only accept a limited amount of clients each year, to ensure the highest quality of film production. Your film will never get lost with me.
Wedding Day Coverage
How many hours of wedding video coverage do we need?
For the better part of the past decade, I have been able to complete filming of a wedding day between 8–10 hours of coverage. That’s enough time to capture preparations, first look, ceremony, portraits, and reception highlights without feeling rushed. You may want to adjust that time for things like your rehearsal dinner if more speeches are involved, a multi-day event or weekend, and engagement sessions. The more time you invest into your memories the better your film will turn out.
Do you work with our photographer?
Absolutely! I have developed a style that is very easy going and photographers love. We work as a team to bring your vision to life. One thing to consider is that similar styles of photo and video work better than opposing styles. If your photographer is considered to be “light and airy” you would also want a videographer who shoots in that style. At Creation Films in New Jersey, we love the “dark and moody” style which we believe drives emotion through film the best.
Style & Editing
What is cinematic wedding videography?
Cinematic wedding videography focuses on storytelling, and emotion, rather than standard documentation, by using intentional filmmaking techniques. This includes thoughtful composition of each scene, natural lighting and audio, cinematic music selections, and tempo or pacing to create a film that feels like a movie. By adding this additional set of layers to your films your keepsake will be cherished forever.
Can we choose the music for our wedding film?
Music is carefully selected to match the emotion and feel of your story. As your trusted wedding cinematographer, I take special care in the selection process of the licensed music used in your films. Your input is always welcomed! Sharing thoughts on your project and coming to agreement is one of the many ways I work with you to create films that feel like yours.
Delivery & Final Film
How long does it take to receive our wedding video?
Each film is handcrafted by yours truly to ensure quality and personality of your videos. Good art takes time. I use a tried, tested, and proven process to make sure that your films not only look stunning, but also feel like you. Preserving your love story is my top priority. That being said, you won’t wait forever to see some results. Trailers are often delivered within 2 weeks of your event. This gives you a tease or a sneak peak of how your films will look and feel. On average full films are delivered within 4 months of your event. This timeframe is subject to change based on your investment, and allows me to refine your film without rushing the process.
How will we receive our wedding film?
Your wedding video is delivered digitally through a private online menu where you can stream, download, and share your film with friends and family. Each menu is personalized to each couple and makes it feel like your own DVD.
